 FAQs

Pickup/Drop-off

  • Pickup time is 1pm, while return time in Noon.

    Need more time? You can add the extended trip package to your reservation if you’d like to pickup your campervan as early as 10am and return it as late as 3pm.

  • Yes! There is free overnight parking on site available for our guests.

  • Our pickup location is: 115 River Street in Acton, MA.

    We are located about 25 miles West of Boston and apx 38 minutes from Boston Logan International airport.

  • Not at this time. Most of our guests choose to take an Uber/Taxi from the Boston airport, which is about a 40 minute drive.

  • Once you arrive at our location, you will be greeted by a Walden team member. This team member will be able to give you a full van walkthrough and answer any questions you may have before hitting the road.

  • Upon your return, we ask that you bring the van back with a full tank of gas on later than your specified return time.

    Don’t worry about doing any cleaning or emptying the grey water tank, we’ll take care of all of this for you.

Booking

  • Our cancellation Policy:

    -Free cancellation 24 hours after booking.

    -If cancelled 14 days or more before departure, 75% of the total reservation cost is refunded.

    -If cancelled less than 14 days before departure, 50% of the total reservation cost is refunded.

  • Yes, we require a $500 security deposit prior to pickup, which will be fully refunded once all reservation costs are paid and any damages (if applicable) are covered either to the van or the gear on board.

  • No. We require all renters to purchase insurance through our insurance partner. Approximate costs below:

    Basic $40/ day - minimum liability, $100K property damage protection, $1,500 deductible

    Essential $57/ day - minimum liability, $150K property damage protection, $1,000 deductible

    Peace of Mind $80/ day - full coverage, $250K property damage protection, $500 deductible

  • We require the renter/driver to be at least 25 years of age, as dictated by our insurance.

  • No, we do not charge to add an additional driver to your reservation.

  • We include 200 miles per day cumulative over your entire trip (ex. 3 nights/4 days receives 800 miles included). We charge $0.65 extra per mile for overages which are calculated once the trip is complete.

  • Yes, we require a 3 night minimum for all stays.

Van

  • Absolutely! Just add the “bring your dog” package to your reservation. This package is $150 and includes some pup essentials like a dog first aid kit and camping chew toy.

  • The van does not come with a toilet, however, you have the option to add a portable toilet to your rental for $65 as part of our "Nature Calls" add-on package.

  • Yes, our rear seats are designed to work with car seats and booster seats.

  • We’ve gone to great lengths to fully outfit each of our campervans with everything you could possibly need for your time on the road. From a fully stocked kitchen, to premium bedding, to everything you need to enjoy time by the campfire… think camping chairs, table and marshmallow skewers. You can see the full gear list on each van’s overview page.

  • If you’re renting a RAM promaster van, the height is 9’5” and the length is 19 feet.

    If you’re renting a Mercedes Sprinter van, the height is 10 feet and the length is 20 feet.

  • The battery system in our vans is robust and should power the van without issue for 3+ days (without solar or any other charging) while powering the fridge, lights, etc.

    In additional to solar charging, the batteries also charged whenever the van in on and being driven, so if you plan to do any driving during your trip, that will also charge the batteries. A quick 30 minute drive can supply enough power for a full day.

General

  • Need some help finding the best camping spots throughout New England? Add the complimentary “Walden Scout” package to your trip and we’ll build a custom campsite recommendation list based on where you’d like to adventure, because discovering amazing places to stay is half the fun.

  • Smoking or vaping is prohibited inside the van. Any evidence of smoking will result in a forfeit of your security deposit.

  • Depending on your intended destination (and time of year), we may rent the van "dry" (without water at the sink) to avoid any freezing issues if you plan to spend extended periods of time outside the van. In place of water at the sink, we provide a 2.5 gallon jug of fresh water.

    Our RAM Promaster vans are two-wheel drive with all-season tires. Our Mercedes Sprinter van “Benton” is 4-wheel drive with all season tires. We include a set of Gotreads and Auto-Socks to help you get un-stuck from the snow.

  • All of our vans are designed to keep you warm and cozy in the winter, complete with an indpendent heating system and fully insulated cabins. You'll have no problem staying warm in winter conditions.
